Watch Buyers FAQs

Will I have to pay sales tax?

We are required to follow each individual state’s laws.

Due to a 2018 U.S. Supreme Court Ruling (South Dakota v. Wayfair), sales tax collection laws have changed. Previously, we were only required to collect sales tax on orders shipped to addresses in our home state of Georgia. Based on this new ruling, each state can establish its own sales tax collection laws for online sales from companies based outside of the state. We are required to follow each individual state’s laws. This means that we may now be collecting sales tax on orders shipped to states that we did not collect from in the past. You can look at the State Tax breakdown for an estimate, but you still may be taxed by the county or city that you are located in.

How is Jewelers Mutual Policy different than additional coverage on my homeowners/renters policy?

Many policies not specifically designed for jewelry or watches have a reimbursement limit. For example, a policy might only pay up to $1,000 for jewelry/watch claims, regardless of the value of the piece. A Jewelers Mutual policy has no set coverage limit. It covers the value of your insured watch, according to the most recent appraisal.

You can find additional information on Jewelers Mutual on our website.

Warranties vary from brand to brand and they typically range from 1 (one) to 5 (five) years. Some brands attach their warranty to the buyer while some brands attach the warranty to the watch. If it’s attached to the watch, it remains covered until the expiration date regardless of how many owners the watch has.

However, every watch sold through All Watches Company comes backed with a 1-year warranty, and our Client Services team will work with you every step of the way if something happens.

What information does Affirm require?

Your Affirm account is created using your name, email, mobile phone number, birthday, and the last 4 digits of your SSN. This combination helps Affirm verify and protect your identity.

Does Affirm perform a credit check?

Yes. When you first create an Affirm account, Affirm performs a ‘soft’ credit check to help verify your identity and determine your eligibility for financing. This ‘soft’ credit check will not affect your credit score.

Why was I prompted to pay a down payment with a debit card?

Affirms tries hard to approve every purchase but sometimes can’t approve the full amount. When this happens, Affirm provides a debit card down payment option so that you may still complete your purchase right away.

Why was I prompted for a checking account?

Affirm sometimes needs more information about your financial situation to evaluate your loan application. They may ask you to link your online checking account, which helps determine your ability to repay a loan. If you are prompted to link your checking account and would like to continue with the application process, you may link your account by providing the login information for your online bank account. Affirm does not store your online banking login information – they simply pass your login credentials to your bank via a secure service linking your checking account.

Linking your checking account DOES NOT authorize Affirm to debit your account. It only allows them to determine your ability to pay.

What is mysterious disappearance coverage?

Jewelers Mutual realizes you can’t always pinpoint how or where your watch may have disappeared, so they cover mysterious disappearance – a coverage often overlooked by other carriers.
